Tranquility Awaits at “A Sunset Song”

By  The Rev. Joy Willard-Williford

“Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Thanks be to God.”

We close our chapel services at both the Upper School and the Lower School with these words of dismissal from Eucharist. Go in peace. Yes, we may have success in being at peace with our neighbor and with God, but how many of us ever take a moment out for quiet, for beauty, for an unrushed moment with God?

As a very busy and – for at least some of us – harried school year begins to wind its way to a close, you are cordially invited to take a peaceful time out and join Tri-M for A Sunset Song: An Evening of Music and Prayer. A beautiful, brief, and simple service of Evening Prayer from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, combined with beautiful classic music from our band, strings, and choral students, awaits you on the following Sunday evenings: March 13th, April 3rd, and May 1st. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends by 7:15 p.m., and is held in the lovely – and peaceful – small chapel of the Scott Center for Worship and the Performing Arts.

Tranquility awaits.
