American History – A 5th Grade Project

HTEA fifth grade students have been studying the events which led to the American Revolution, the first battles of the revolution, and the winter spent at Valley Forge, which became known as “the birthplace of the American Spirit”.

Their studies culminated in the creation of their own films reenacting the winter encampment of our troops at Valley Forge. Students formed groups and researched their topic using laptops and I-pads and an outline of historical events to aid them.  The results of their investigation formed the basis of scripts each group created to portray their story.  The students constructed all props, made snow in Science, filmed their movies, and edited the final versions in the computer lab with software such as iMovie.

The students did a great job and we’ve included one of their movies for you to enjoy! All movies will be available on Grandparents Day this Friday!
