A Career For Life

As a follow-up to last week’s blog, It Started with a Skype Call, we introduce to you Mrs. Holly Tanner, a physical therapist at Health First Medical Rehabilitation in Palm Bay who recently stopped by for a wonderful presentation to the HTEA second grade students as part of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Lower School’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

Mrs. Tanner explained her career and answered questions for the students. Afterwards, she kindly answered a few questions for the HTEA Blog as well.

Why did you become a physical therapist?

I like to work with people and I have always been interested in health and exercise.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is that I have the opportunity to help others and I get to see people get better everyday.  It is extremely self satisfying.

What advice would you give someone interested in becoming a Physical Therapist?

You have to like to be around people. The school work is very intensive, but it is worth it.  Once you get through the schooling and training, you have a career for life!

What is the most memorable moment in your career?

The most memorable moment(s) in my career are seeing my young athletes return to playing their sport or my young kids return to playing in general from a traumatic injury or surgery.  I can’t pinpoint one moment – they all are memorable to me!

Thank You, Mrs. Tanner!

  1. Mrs. Tanner was a wonderful presenter, always with a smile in her face. A very kind and caring individual with patience, there is no wonder why she chose this profession. On a more personal note, her attitude shouts: “Holy Trinity graduate”. I am very appreciative for parent volunteer speakers like her. Thank you Mrs. Tanner for a great presentation!

    1. Thank you for your comment Mrs. Tomadakis! Mrs. Tanner did indeed attend Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and is a parent of an HTEA student. We are lucky to have Mrs. Tanner and her family as part of the HTEA community!
