– An International Student describes coming to America for the 2012-13 school year –
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
-George Bernard Shaw
I’m about to live the adventure of a lifetime. Well, at least for me and my family it will be.

In three more weeks, I leave Chile to travel to the United States, to finish my senior year. I’m going to a school in Florida, called Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. A family that is very good friends with my family lives in Satellite Beach, and that’s where I’m going to stay.
When there was more time left for my trip, I was super excited. I’m still super excited now, but it’s a different type of excited. It’s like I don’t know what to expect, but I kind of do. It’s a super weird feeling, and it’s quite hard to explain.
What most worries me is that I won’t be here. I know I’ll make new friends, and I have a great famliy waiting for me there. I’ll just miss everything. I’ve never traveled so far away from home for so long. I really can’t wait to just get out there and live that experience, that rush of adrenaline and excitement. To set foot on that plane, that will take me away on a trip that just might define my future.
This is a huge opportunity, and I’m taking it. Just a regular seventeen year old, chilling on a couch, preparing herself mentally for a mega culture blow: from latina to americana.
